| Alcohol while Anxiety or how to get more mental health problems |
Alcohol - affecting nervous system substance that is associated with the emergence of many mental disorders.
The human brain is one of the main objects of alcohol attack. Thus, alcohol affects both the physical and mental health.
In the behavior of people abusing alcohol, in their changing emotional tone (on the aggressiveness to depression, from elation to the uncontrolled flow of words and deeds to the sadness, despair and anxiety) and the incidence of disability is easy to notice the change.
Some people believe that small and moderate alcohol consumption is useful for mental health, in particular for anxiety treatment. But this assertion has no scientific basis!
Scientific studies have failed to demonstrate the benefit of alcohol on mental health, and in fact the consumption of alcohol is a risk factor for mental health problems.
Having made research on rats regulating anxiety and alcohol consumption, scientists have noticed the following. Rats from category "P" (with alcohol) showed more anxiety behaviors and drank more alcohol than non alcohol-preferring "NP" rats.
Various scientific studies have confirmed that treatment anxiety with alcohol increases the chance of other mental health problems. According to a study in Australia L. Burns and M. Tissoni, 1/3 of people with alcohol problems have and other mental health problems.
- Alcohol problem at 10 times increases the risk of abuse of other narcotic substances, four times increases risk of behavioral disorders and three times - the risk of anxiety syndrome.
- Alcohol consumption slows treatment of other mental health problems. People with depression who occasionally abuse alcohol are likely to cause harm to themselves or commit suicide. In schizophrenics, even miserly amounts of alcohol can aggravate the symptoms and worsen the course of disease.
- Even small amounts of alcohol are contraindicated while taking most medications prescribed for the treatment of mental health problems.
